(*sniffs air*) What’s that smell? Oh, that’s just pure, sheer joy

I’m sort of speechless today. Kathy, from The Junk Drawer, gave me this awesome award The Flower Smeller Award.

As stated at GO! Smell the Flowers, this badge serves to acknowledge others who are, in their own way, smelling the flowers. They may be regular visitors to GO! Smell the Flowers, one of the 20 founders blogs (of GO! Smell the Flowers) or someone who could contribute who is yet to visit! Maybe they have recovered from an illness, written a book, made waves in the blogosphere, won the lottery, made a major shift in their life, won promotion, quit the rat race, raising a family, discovering their greatness and on it GO!s as more examples from around the world start to surface.
And here’s what Kathy had to say about little ole me. Gosh it’s so flattering, Kathy! Me and my crazy life sound so much more interesting when you put it this way.
Cardiogirl, author of the Cardiogirl: 19% Body Fat 100% Fun blog, is my personal hero. Hers is a blog that puts it all out there — every last raw bit of it. Her life struggles are laid out bare for everyone to see. She sees injustice in the world, grabs it by the collar and slaps it in the face. That girl’s got guts. I award her this badge for her fearlessness and her determination in the face of life’s obstacles. To do all that with a wicked sense of humor is hard. No, it’s damn near impossible. Cardiogirl, take a bow and never stop cutting through the crap.
(Swallows lump forming in throat) so here are the rules of tagging:
1. If you are awarded the flower smeller badge or are a founder of GO! Smell the flowers then pop the flower smeller badge up at your blog and award it to 5 others by writing a post with links to the 5 blogs or websites that you choose.
2. You can award this badge to a maximum of 5 people per month from now until eternity as you come across more flower smellers.
3. Link to GO! Smell the Flower’s post so that people can find the origin of where the award started and find their way to that community.
4. Proudly display the Flower Smeller award with a link to the post that you wrote announcing your award.
5. All flower smellers – be prepared to be approached to write a 500 word account of yourself to feature in our 2009 book – The Flower Smellers that some of the founders will be featuring in – here’s a few examples they prepared earlier, in PDF format for now over at The Flower Smellers page. As more badges are awarded we’ll start a blogroll of ‘Flower Smellers’ and also include the links in the page, the flower smellers.
So on to my nominees.
Becoming Lisa Luckie Another mother who is working through getting comfortable in her own skin. Because she is so honest her posts are very thought-provoking. I just wish she updated a tad more frequently (insert hopeful smile and raised eyebrows here).
The Busy Dad Blog He shows me a parent’s perspective from the male side. And he’s funny. I found him way back before most of the other bloggers out there found him. Now he’s no longer the internet’s best kept secret, he *is* the internet!
Losing My Marbles/Robots Love Grape Gum/It’s Dixie! Dixie, I don’t know what your handle is — on your header it says Losing My Marbles, on the internet tab it says Robots Love Grape Gum. I do know she loves reality TV, is intrigued by Britney Spears and dotes on her dog Milo. And I love her. She’s funny, sarcastic and melancholy all at once. She needs to be read. Go check her out.
Candle At Both Ends Another mom, this one with FOUR kids. Two of them are twins. She’s very honest about the joys and the sorrows. And I respect and appreciate that. She keeps it real.
Joy Unexpected Again, a very honest woman who also struggle with her thyroid. Grrr. The thyroid can be such a spiteful wench. Anyone who has to use medication to bitch-slap that butterfly-shaped organ into submission knows that all too well. She’s also very honest and she shares pictures. That’s more than I could do.
Go forth and smell the flowers!
