Spam Mash-Up featuring Virgil, Scott, Monica and Mr. Long Stigler
16 VIPs have spoken »The Spam Mash-Up started a while ago when I discovered that some spammers are pretty clever and sometimes even witty. If you make me laugh you will get my attention, that’s a fact.
So now I peruse my spam folder in search of a good nugget. Last time we had a New Age bent — in which we discussed mental health and detoxing from pot.
Just call me Joe Cool
It’s awesome knowing that Virgil thinks the internet would suck without my presence. Rest assured, Virgil, I will never stop. Ever.
I hope you never stop! This is one of the best blogs I’ve ever read. You’ve got some mad skill here, man.
I just hope that you don’t lose your style because you’re definitely one of the coolest bloggers out there. Please keep it up because the internet needs someone like you spreading the word.
– Virgil
Hells yes you can tweet me
I thought having a retweet button at the top of each post was a clear sign that you have my permission to tweet me, my posts, my doodles or my shoes. Tweet with abandon. Having said that, I expect to see the number 6 appear in that little blue box up there.
Are you kidding? Hells yes you are; this should be tweeted. With your permission, I will make that happen.
– Scott Roerish
That’s funny because I’m actually *trying* to do it for a living
Sometimes we find encouragement is the strangest places. Regardless, this short note from Monica helped me toughen my resolve. At the moment, I think I make enough of a living to rent a hut in a third-world country.
Man, you should be a writer. Your text is so interesting. You should do it for a living.
– Monica
Yes. I. Am.
I choose to believe that Mr. Stigler is posing a rhetorical question in a positive light. I’m real and I’m fantastic.
Are you for real?

More real than you, Long Stigler.
I often wonder what a spammer is actually thinking when he writes something like that. Is it supposed to intrigue me? Am I supposed to follow his breadcrumbs to learn more? It seems like such a wasted effort. But it always gives me something to write about.
I *heart* your spam mash-ups!

Thanks meleah! I really do love writing them. I have to say it’s been lean pickins lately. Not that I don’t get tons of them, but I haven’t found many quality notes recently.
You’re on Twitter, yay! I’m following you. Since I read your blog in a feed reader, I had never seen your retweet button.
For some reason, it cracks me up that a spam email said “hells yes.” I’m with Meleah, I love your spam masn-ups.
absepa recently posted..Maybe you could cross-market the jerky to the stoners…
Yo absepa! Yeah, I’m on Twitter but I never do anything with it unless someone asks me to retweet something. I think I have zero influence over there, but all the cool kids are jumping a bridge so I’m jumping too.
I also enjoyed the casual tone of his hells yes.
How did I miss this post?? It’s so cool you’re taking your writing seriously. You’re funny as hell and can really write. I’m “supposed” to be tweeting more, but have had too much going on. As for spam, if they say they love me, I pretend to believe them. For about twenty-four hours. Then I realize it’s all a big sham at my expense and delete them all. Helps me maintain my victim status. It’s such a pleasure to read you!

YES! Victims unite *pumps fist vigorously in the air*
Every time I write one of these I desperately want to know what the ROI is. They must be making *something* if they keep doing it, right? I mean it has to yield some results, right? I’d love to pick a spammer’s brain one day.

well i only know you posted because meleah tweeted it, so the button works. i don’t log into my reader anymore, so i don’t know who is doing what and when.
awwh, virgil is a suck up, but the brother dropped the truth dot com.
the iNet needs uCardiogirl
*raises hand*
cg, looks at me over the top of her glasses. yes v
um, did you take that photo of the converse in the grass?
Booyah! You know this because of Meleah’s tweet?! Awesome!
No, I found that bitchin’ photo somewhere on the internet and I swear I was going to give credit to the person who took it. Then I got sucked into that vortex where my blog went down and my function file was jacked. When everything was back to normal I couldn’t find the site where I found the photo.
I *think* it was on Flickr, but I couldn’t find it.
Gotta give Mr. Long Stigler props for the name alone.

Is that name reminding me of Dirk Diggler? I can’t pinpoint why I enjoy it, but I do.
I don’t get much spam. Well, hardly ever if I’m truthful. I’m either doing something wrong, or something right. Me thinks wrong ;)
Ok, I’ll re-tweet you.
Babs (beetle) recently posted..We grew a heart!
Nah, you’re doing right Babs. It’s annoying to taking out the trash. Oh! I must be dumpster diving for these fun comments!
Don’t you feel good giving them a sense of purpose in their spamming?
Anji recently posted..Gentle Otter
I really do. Someone needs to acknowledge them.
Don’t you ever go changing, and yeah, you probably should be a writer.
Great post! Keep it up.
I love your spam mashups.
Oh, and I made it #3 in the little box.
Jen recently posted..Let’s Get Back To Work America
Thanks Jen! Way to make it hit three; I’ve never hit three before so I’m going to call this success.
Now I have to make it hit #6. It should be at 5 now.

Thanks Linda, they are fun and I really do think they deserve some sort of credit for trying to be creative about it.
