Merry Christmas

Well, here we are — Christmas Day. I wasn’t sure I was going to make it this year. I’m kind of having some issues with the J-Man right now. But I won’t let that stop me from wishing the baby Jesus a Happy and Healthy Birthday. Rock on, buddy.
Instead of ragging on Jesus and bringing everyone down, I’ll share two drawings my kid left for Santa last night.
The first drawing depicts Santa holding a candy cane, with a heart-shaped candy cane above his head. Over to the left is Katie astride Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer. Note she is sitting side-saddle with her arms over her head, presumably enjoying Santa’s presence.

The second drawing mostly features the Tannenbaum decorated in excess with lights. Katie is shown sleeping in bed on the upper left-hand side — she labeled herself simply as “me.” The proof of her sleepy state, of course, is the plethora of ZZZZZZZZs above her sleeping head.
Santa is on the bottom right-hand side near the tree and is labeled “you.” I think his head and eyes are peering out above the branch and a long line connects his floating head with the presents left under the tree. I’m kind of fuzzy on this part. You’ll have to figure the rest out for yourself.

Since Katie is 7, she’s running the show in terms of what is left behind for Santa. She wrote a note for Allison to Santa. Allison left a hat and the note read, “Dear Santa, Here’s a hat in case your head gets cold. Love, Allison.”
Katie made sure Emily was in on the action as well. Katie labeled a piece of paper “To Santa, From Emily” and then Emily used a pink crayon to scribble a bit on the paper for Santa. All of this was left on the coffee table for Mr. Claus along with a big glass of milk and five cookies.
Santa ate up, took the drawings and left a boat load of presents in his wake. He must have felt guilty that the girls were sans a mother this past week.

Addendum:
I now understand how my parents felt when we were. Beg.Ging. To get up in the morning to open presents. (Thank you Dutch Bitch for that method of stressing the word. You rock!) It started at 6:23 am — I know this because Katie and Allison have a digital clock in their bedroom. They lasted til about 6:47 am and then Mr. C and I got up to jump into the day.
Much as I complain, there is nothing like watching small children open presents with abandon. It did wake me up and made me feel giddy, even. And best of all, Mr. C gave me two new pairs of Converse low tops.
I can now feel pensive or freaked out, in 3D, whenever I want.

I think I shall be freaked out today, just because I can.
