Okay C-girl, I’ve thought about this one… cuz I couldn’t possibly leave anything out, ya know? That would be a travesty! There are so many different songs and lyrics that have touched me over the years, because music has always been the one thing that I consistently identify with. I’ve decided that, to really do the topic justice, I’ll just have to write my answer as a post of my own. So… I should have that up by tomorrow morning! **HUGS!!**

(jumps up and down) Oh I can’t wait to see your post! I know there will be alot of Amy in there, but I wonder what else will make the cut?

That creepy little line can apply to just about anything “new” happening (you KNOW I don’t adapt to change easily). If that song flits through my head, it generally means I’m about to take a trip with a hand-basket…

I enjoy your grumbles, Les. Yeah, I hear you on change. Change = Bad most of the time, in my experience. Yikes. But thank you for playing along :) You’re a good sport.

There are too many to nail down a favorite but I remember being all agnst ridden in high school and falling in love with Alanis Morissette’s songs.

Sometimes is never quite enough, if your flawless than you’ll earn my love…

Also love Lauryn Hill her first album…every time I hear it makes me think of being in love and breaking up for the first time so it’s kinda bittersweet.

Hi Faith, welcome to the VIP Lounge! (That’s what I call the comments section.) I, too had that first Alanis Morissette album and I remember liking the song “You Learn”:

Those songs that make you think of people and all their good points and all of the flaws are bittersweet, aren’t they? And I do remember loving that line from Prince:

The radio version of “I Will Possess Your Heart” is only 4:22 or some such; I just looked it up on YouTube. I love the long version, mainly because I adore that bass line. But feel free to enjoy the short version!!! That one is good too.

I’m going to give that one a go. I like that bass line, but it was a tad too long for me. I’ll report back after I find the radio version.

Favourite phrases in songs, betch?! Sorry – that’s a blog in itself. Not a blog ENTRY, either – an entire blog space. I just have too many “favourites”.

As to that “category” question – I’m determined to put each post into just ONE category – which sucks most times, because I have posts that would fit into more than one, and then I have to actually make a decision. Which also sucks.

You can change the name of “General”, btw. I changed mine to “Life in General” which at least has a semblance of sense most times, if I should forget to choose another one and it does it for me.

Okay, you HAVE to come up with at least one, Les. You can’t comment again until you leave me one song and the phrase.

That’s fun, Life in General. Thanks to Solomon, I did figure out how to banish General. It became General Nonsense. I thought that was fun.

You’re so spartan, you ONLY use one category each time?! Wow.

@Don – American Pie is about ‘the day the music died’…sort of. That day is the day the Big Bopper, Richie Valens and Buddy Holly were killed in a plane crash, and other musicians, as well..

@kat – ‘Dirty Laundry’ is Don Henley, from the Eagles, and it was off his first solo album.

@CG….you can add Eagles, Lynyrd Skynyrd, 38Special, Dean Martin, Dr. Hook, Def Leppard, Moody Blues, the Kinks….hee

I like most anything punk. I also really like Weezer or old Offspring. The Ramones. Bruce.

You’re right. If I hear the right song, it can take me right back to way back when.

Isn’t that such a fun sensation? I never really got into the punk stuff. Although, I do like the new wave channel on Sirius Satellite. We have that in the van and on the rare occasion I am alone I listen to it and hear stuff like the Psychedelic Furs, Soft Cell, The Smiths, Talking Heads, etc. And that immediately makes me think of college. Good times.
