Cardiogirl: 19% body fat 100% fun

I want a new bottle of Estee Lauder’s ‘Beautiful’, except the bottles are puny now and are they are still charging $55 a pop. I hate that.

I usually like a new book or a Border’s Gift Card, perhaps the nifty wallet I saw last night while I was shopping, and for my daughter to just talk to me once without deep sighing or rolling her eyes. I don’t think any of these are too much to ask for.

What do I want? A boob job, a little tummy lipo and a remodeled kitchen. I am not actually getting any of that (at least not yet) but that is what I want. More realistically I would like a new purse, a watch (love the one you picked out) and maybe some clothes. My husband hasn’t asked me what I want which leads me to believe I will get none of the above unless he is now able to mind read.

Off to check out that Phineas and Ferb song (my kids watch that show but I never noticed any music from it!)

I just want to be able to swing a decent Christmas for my kids. I can’t even wrap my head around what I want for myself. Maybe a new winter coat? Nah, those are probably already picked over by now anyway.

I would like a baby who sleeps through the night, please. Or, more specifically, for this baby I already have to sleep through the night. I don’t want to swap her!

I think the gift I’m looking forward to getting (hopefully) is the new Mario game for the Wii. It’s an old school side scroller and awesome! I’m gonna put on some headphones, but in the DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince CD (I used to do this when I was a kid), and play the heck out of that game.

A cooking class that is worth it is one that teaches a particular skill & not just a few recipes. We took one called “knife skills” and it was awesome. I’ve been holding my knife the wrong way my whole life. Since I’m now missing two partial fingerpads and have no sensation at the tip of my left index finger, this class was particularly helpful for me.

The night out is awesome. Hubby & I recently have had two four-day stints to ourselves. And WOW. His comment: “it has been really nice to get to know you again.”

I used to wear Knowing and my mom wore Beautiful. Back in the hey day I would run into other women using Beautiful and I immediately thought of my mom. It is extremely pricey, though. I don’t think those items are too much to ask for either.

But wouldn’t it freak you out if your daughter changed like that for 24 hours? I’d probably waste those 24 hours trying to figure out why she was acting that way. And then she’d be normal the next day and I’d be mad that I wasted the time.

Seriously? You’d want a boob job? Wouldn’t they get in the way of running? Speaking of running, my husband was telling me about some guy who died right after finishing some marathon. He said at least one or two people routinely kick it after a marathon and I immediately thought, I have to ask Michelle about that. Have you ever run in a marathon where someone died during or after the race?

I know. I cannot find mittens. There are gloves that are sorta picked over already, but nary a mitten in sight. Don’t they make mittens anymore?

Love your coffee cups. I had 4 huge mugs I use all the time. So far the kids have only broken one of them when washing dishes, so I still have 3 of them.

That’s an awesome gift from the inlaws. Trade you inlaws? Never mind, I suppose that wouldn’t work.

No idea what I want for Christmas, except maybe a Cardiogirl coffee mug. I’ll have to mention that to Santa :-)

I missed the bit about the coffee cup in my RSS reader so it looked like “All I want for Christmas is a big ass” I was going to say in response – You can have some of mine there’s plenty to go round then realised that it was about a coffee cup doh!

I love the french mugs that are like soup bowls! My brother used to have a simpsons mug and it was like a small flower pot!

I actually like small coffee mugs. I have a small one that belonged to my grandmother. It’s very 70’s Harvest Wheat in color. I really love it. But I have to drink half milk, half coffee because my damn stomach so a smaller cup works better.

Jeff and I don’t give each other presents and we ask no one gets us anything. We’re major Scrooges, for all holidays. Seriously, don’t buy me a gift. We say going to Vegas together is our Christmas gift, but we just like to go the week before Christmas because it’s slow/cheaper.

Jeff does get me flowers from time to time. Normally when he’s out of town on Vday or our anniversary.

Now the inlaw gift is extraordinarily thoughtful, but I only have dogs and they go to the kennel.

I’ve never had an mp3 player with a separate battery.

I have a mug from cafepress that a friend made for me, and it’s just a normal-sized mug, so that one probably is too :( I heart it, but it’s not jumbo, it’s just normal.

And the Target near me has glove-mittens for $3 right now — those mittens where the mitten-y part flips back to turn into fingerless gloves, in case you need to actually use your fingers? I enjoy them greatly. Plus, *$3*!!! WIN.

Finally, I want those sequined Chucks at the top of the post.

Like others, the only things I can think of are intangibles (which would be free), but are usually the least likely to be received: * An enjoyable part-time job, where I could get out of the house for just one night each week, * for my sons to be able to still have a dog, but me not to have to deal with anything having to do with the dog – especially clipping his toenails, cleaning his ears, scooping his sh!t, or throwing away the ornaments that he eats, *a quick fix cure for depression, * children who go to bed when you put them there, * a best friend. Hmm, these are all sounding like world peace, sorry!

It is not very common to have someone die, but it does happen. The last run I did was a half marathon here in San Jose. about 100 yds from the finish I ran past a man that was flat on the ground. He was surrounded by medical personnel, but I looked and saw that he was unconcious and had some froth coming from his mouth. i thought, wow, he doesn’t look good, then ran across the finish and didn’t give it a second thought. I found out later that day that 3 people died during the race and he was one of them. All 3 were young (30’s) and healthy. It was not hot out at all. One was a women who had her husband and 2 kids waiting for her at the finish. Tragic. I cried. It is unusual to have that happen, really unusual to have 3 in one race.

My boys are getting that game Paul. If Santa doesn’t bring it to you, you are welcome to come over and play with them!

Lola–Nobody can swing a decent Christmas for the kids anymore. No matter what I give them, it ain’t enough. I’m going “realistic” this year–everyone is getting things like clothes and underwear that I would otherwise buy for them outside of Christmas. They don’t “need” a darned thing and I can’t afford much else.

Or that damned pacifier in their mouths.

That froth was pulmonary edema which typically indicates heart problems. I’ve only heard of that happening so acutely from exercise at high elevations. But I guess it would be difficult to tell you were having respiratory distress at the end of a race. That’s a crazy tragic story.

But I had a friend growing up whose parents had a system. Each kid received one thing they wanted, one thing they needed and a book. Each kid got the same number of wants, needs and books. Some Christmases they received 1 round, some Christmases had 5. The parents explained that was the system and it depended on how much money they had so make Christmas lists carefully. It was something I remember thinking made sense even when I was a little kid.

On the unrealistic side – I’ll take a reduction of 50 lbs and a whole new wardrobe. On the realistic side – I have no idea. I’ve got new living room furniture arriving on Saturday, and I’ll be with my big brothers (and their families) in California for Christmas. What more could I possibly ask for?

Yikes, that is tragic. I’m so shocked to hear that all three were in their 30s and healthy. Very sad.

Amen to that. I am happy to say we’re in the same boat, my kids seriously need nothing. They want the world, but they have no actual needs.

I have tried to talk about wants and needs with my kids, but it seems like it goes in one ear and hurtles out their nose. However, that is a really interesting concept and I’d agree it makes a lot of sense.

Did your kids use a pacifier? Mine kept spitting them out and I couldn’t get them to use it.

Right now I wish I had been more diligent. Got a thumb sucker whose teeth are rebelling and a kid who prefers the index and middle finger. Surprisingly, her teeth are not as bad, but I think they’re both going to need braces.

Well, they’re both going to want braces.

Funny you mention that Dom, because that was one of the classes listed at the site I was at. And I thought, wtf? A class to learn how to hold a knife and chop vegetables? Next!

Golly, I don’t know what I’d do with Mr. C for four whole days. That’s great that you and hubby were able re-kindle and enjoy yourselves.

I’m going to have to figure out how much shipping would be as it comes from the UK (?) somewhere that accepts pounds rather than dollars. Although this mug is only £3.99 which looks like it’s $6.61. Now if shipping is under $10 I know what I’m getting for Christmas.

I saw those mittens at Target yesterday. I might think about them — they’re for my kids and my 4-year-old has a hard time getting her fingers in the glove holes, but since those are open, they might work.

That’s the problem, jamming their digits in the spaces. For some reason there’s always an inner section that slides down and gets jammed and I have to fix everyone’s gloves in the morning. Grr.

But those mitts might work for me.

Damn, I didn’t know you had to clip the dog’s toenails. One more reason why we’ll never have a dog. I did find a big white cup at Office Depot for $2.40 I might have to get two of those.

That’s a pretty nice realistic list — no wishing about that. But I do like your unrealistic list, too.

It’s an acidic thing. My stomach can’t handle straight up coffee without a Prilosec so I cut it with milk because I’d rather have strong coffee with half milk than weak coffee. I hate weak coffee. There should be no visibility in the coffee and have no resemblance to the consistency of water.

It might be cheaper to have delivered to my house and then I’ll ship to the USA for you :) Let me know :) or maybe we can come up with some compromise.
