Let the music move you
For some reason, music has always had a profound effect on me. It really evokes a strong mood and there are certain lyrics that have always stayed with me. I thought today it would be fun to list the lyrics I love and to hear if you have a certain phrase from a song that you enjoy and listen for every time you hear that particular song.
Lengthy side note that I initially called a “quick” side note: do all of you like assigning a category for your posts? I feel so much pressure every time I write something. And now that I have rejected HaloScan like a snotty girl being asked out to the prom, I have a new format for my comments. Along with the new format, it shows what category I have chosen for a particular post. I do like that on other people’s blogs.
But I am anal retentive. I know, say it all together now — not you Cardiogirl! You’re like a new-age, go-with-the-flow, mellow hipster.
It’s true people. I obsess over some of the smallest things. I’ve been obsessing over this category thing since I moved to WordPress last September.
I like to be efficient. And I don’t want to have 863 categories. But then I’ll see at someone else’s blog a category like “things that bug the shit out of me” and I think, ‘Ooh, I like that!’ Yet that exact phrase is kind of long and wordy.
But what I hate the most is the “General” category. That mofo hounds me like toilet paper stuck to the bottom of my shoe. It mocks me.
That’s the category that comes up as a catch all when I have not selected a category. So when I save a draft without selecting a category first — because I do re-read and edit crazily in an attempt to find and eradicate mistakes — it automatically selects “General” for me. Grrr. It feels like WordPress is saying, “Gah, come on and pick one. No? Well here. You get “General” then. That will teach you to click without choosing first.”
I’ve tried to get rid of that category but I think it’s a default that cannot be removed. I might go with Mixed Bag as my “General” soon. I hate seeing “General.” Oh, maybe “Funkalicious” but that might set up an expectation for a wild, chewy center. Hmm. I’ll have to ponder further.
And just
in
case you’re
wondering, yes, it
is hard
to be Cardiogirl.
There are so many
inane, trivial things to obsess over and only so much time in one day.
So I didn’t know how to label today’s post and I know you all are going to see that I picked “Stream of Consciousness” when “Funkalicious” might have worked well today. It truly is like having one of those teeny tiny cocktail forks in the silverware drawer. It’s only used once a year. Whereas the teaspoons and knives are used daily. I’m not sure I have room in my comments for a cocktail fork. Whatever.
Now, let’s get the thick of it.
Here are some of the songs that have a line or two that I always listen for and enjoy.
The first one is “Unloveable” from The Smiths. Believe it or not, it’s kind of upbeat and bouncy even though the lyrics are depressing.
My college roommate, Tonya, introduced me to this particular song and The Smiths in general. She is the one who pointed out the phrase that we used through most of our college years:
“I wear Black on the outside
‘Cause Black is how I feel on the inside.”
In college I was all stormy and moody and I did have a black turtleneck that I wore occasionally. That is when I would casually utter to Tonya, “I wear black on the outside. Because black is how I feel. On the inside.”
Yeah, I made it mine. I inserted pauses. For effect. But that’s not really the way Morissey sings it. You can listen to the song and hear that lyric for yourself at the 1 minute 49 second mark in this You Tube link.
Next up is Sir Elton John. My brother introduced me to “Funeral for a Friend (Love Lies Bleeding).” That was on the “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road” album and my brother was a DJ at college for a little bit. That song is really long 11 minutes and 8 seconds. So he told me when he had to use the bathroom, he would put that song on and he knew he could take his time.
As you might imagine, the start of the song is instrumental with wind and lots o’ heavy pipe organ, simulating music one might hear at, well, a funeral. Then Elton gets into the piano side of things and it’s still instrumental. Finally we change gears around 3 minutes and 20 seconds and the drums are added. He’s pounding the piano keys. You could probably dance to this part.
Eventually at around the 5 minute and 37 second mark, after the guitars are going full steam, we get to the lyrics.
The lyrics I always listen for (at 6 minutes and 57 seconds) and that actually jump out at me if I am not paying attention are:
“You’re a bluebird on a telegraph line
I hope you’re happy now.”
Again this is a depressing song with a really rock ‘n roll upbeat sound. Hmm, I’m detecting a theme here.
The last song (since I am getting a tad long-winded here) is “Rosalita (Come Out Tonight)” by Bruce Springsteen. Again this song is long. It’s 7 minutes and 11 minutes. I guess I like to really hear my music, for a while.
Anyway, the lyrics go thusly:
“But now you’re sad, your mama’s mad
And your papa says he knows that I don’t have any moneyYour papa says he knows that I don’t have any money
Oh, your daddy says he knows that I don’t have any moneyWell, tell him this is his last chance
to get his daughter in a fine romance
‘Cause a record company, Rosie,
just gave me a big advance”
Yup, this one gets a block quote. That is how much I love this part. Bruce is a struggling singer/songwriter in this tale. Oh how he loves Rosalita. Wants to be with her and only her.
But Rosalita’s dad is a bit of a dick and won’t let Rosalita see Bruce. So Bruce appeals to Rosie’s father’s concern — the fact that Bruce is just a guitar slingin’ loser. With no money. But, wait for it! Surprise! Bruce just earned a big record deal. He’s rich, baby!
And my favorite, favorite part is when he tells Rosalita to give her dad a message:
“Well, tell him this is his last chance, to get his daughter in a fine romance.”
It’s going to be awesome, Rosalita. Bruce loves you with undying passion. Now you two can be together. He will give to you a fine romance. And isn’t that what every father of a daughter wants? A man who will love his daughter and treat her like a queen, thus providing a fine romance? And as an added bonus, he has a big advance from the record company. So he’s financially set. Yes!
I love that song.
If you want to hear it yourself, look for the 4 minute 26 second mark. You won’t be sorry.
Now tell me, what’s your favorite song?

Hola CG!
I love the category titles. I’m with you. I hate GENERAL! Nothing is GENERAL!
I have several favorite songs. One is “Magic Power” by Triumph. I have this vivid memory of driving my 67 Camaro convertible down I-94 at high rate of speed, singing, “I”m Young! I’m wild! And I’m Free! Got the Magic power of the music in me!”
Another favorite of mine is Rod Stewart singing, “Maggie Mae.” It was one of my Mom’s favorite songs, so I always think of her when I hear it.
Lastly, I still love, “Living la vida loca!” It’s not just Ricky Martin is a hottie, either. The song just puts me in a good mood.
Hey, enjoy your Monday!
Mucho Smooches!
Val
Hey Val! I have never heard of Magic Power. In fact, I am listening it to on YouTube as I type this. Trying to imagine you speeding down 94 in a convertible no less! Sounds like a fantastic memory.
And I know what you mean about having a favorite song because someone you love liked that song.
This is so fun, hearing about what moves other people. Thanks for playing!
Favorite? Too many. Depends on my mood, my company, if the sun is shining, if its night…
‘Fool in the Rain’ by Led Zeppelin is one. ‘At Last’ by Etta James always makes me smile. ‘Tusk’ by Fleetwood Mac. Most songs by Queen. Almost every Def Leppard song, even new ones, heh. AC/DC – love ‘em. Blues – all kinds, very old to new. Old jazz and pop standards. Baroque music…
I just have this revolving list on my MP3 player, and it covers just about every genre. Oh, Billy Joel, ‘Only the Good Die Young’ and ‘Captain Jack’ and ‘Innocent Man’.
And this list…confounds my daughter – the eldest – because how can I like soooo many kinds of songs. I even like some of the stuff she likes, and I think it will move into favorite category eventually. Beatles, Amy Winehouse, Santana, Christina Aguilera, Dave Matthews Band.
The reason you see names added, heh, is because I can think of multiple songs by each artist or band that I will sing for no better reason than they float through my brain. Songs that I love, and may have no more special meaning than they make me happy. Many do have specific memories/feelings attached, but mostly they make me feel. OOOhhh Barbra Striesand.
Yeah…I’m a music junkie, hehe.
Wow, you are diverse, Anne.
I discovered Amy Winehouse last year, when she kept popping up in the news. I was like, “Who *is* this chick and why is she always on Comcast’s news page? Then I discovered her voice. I think a new Amy replacement for me might be a chick called Adele. She has a nice song called Chashing Pavement.
She’s kind of like a healthy, non-crack-smoking version of Amy Winehouse. And she’s from England — booyah!
Half of the time, I forget to put category titles. I think you should have a Cocktail Forks category.
Being a radio chick, I have a wide variety of favorite songs. One that seems to keep coming around is “Werewolves of London” by Warren Zevon. My favorite favorite part is “Saw a werewolf drinking a Pina Colada in Trader Vic’s. His hair was perfect.” Could hear that song on a loop all day.
Ooh, and I’ve always liked “Funeral for a Friend.” The bluebird line does it for me too.
I forgot all about Werewolves in London! — I LOVE that line too; maybe I need to buy that mp3 for my elliptical workout. Is it any wonder I love you Elle?
Hey Cardio, Hope you had a good weekend! I don’t really think I can pick a favorite song, but hands down one of my favorite singers is Sir Elton! Funny that you mention Funeral For a Friend/Love, Lies, Bleeding, because that is one my ipod right now. That same line always pops out at me as well.
I have liked Elton John since I was about 5 yrs old. I had the 8 track (ooh! dating myself alert!) of Goodbye Yellow Brick Road. I have an aunt who is exactly 10 yrs older than me who was/is a big Elton fan. I would lie on her bed when she was a teenager and watch her doing “teenage” type things. I just thought she was the coolest thing. She always had Elton on and had a Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy (another song on my ipod) poster on the back of her door. For my 40th birthday next yr I told my husband I want to go to Vegas to see his show. Aahh! Thanks for the trip down memory lane!
Oh, as for the category thing– i don’t use them at all. I don’t quite get the need to label my posts. To look for it later? I already know where they are.
Oh YES! The 8 track. We had the double album of Goodbye Yellow Brick Road. But we had many 8 tracks featuring Barbara Streisand, Neil Sedaka and Neil Diamond, to name but a few. That sounds like fun, seeing Elton in Vegas! Cool!
I have many favorites. I can’t pick just one. I love the way you can find so many versions of songs you like on Youtube. I’m really liking the way Radiohead is able to play their live version of ‘Paranoid Android’ so perfectly. The Jools Holland performance is probably my favorite version of that one. It’s not a new song but it’s the one currently running through my head.
I do love YouTube. Sometimes when a band refuses to sell just one song off an album (REM, I’m looking at you) you can at least listen to the song on YouTube. And that is a good thing.
Wow, you are really not kidding when you said, “…music has always had a profound effect on me.” You can just direct us accurately to the seconds of where the lyrics will appear on the Youtube links.
Indeed, music can have very profound effect on us. I remember there were many times how an inspiring song picked me up from the valley. And there were times music brought me back to the older days; the time when I just looked at someone from a corner and wished that she would be happy.
There were also times when I have only music to keep me company. Basically, music is a big part of my life. One of my favorites is ‘Love Me’ by Colin Raye (hope I have gotten the name correctly).
I’m going to have to look that one up, BK. I don’t think I’ve ever heard of Colin Raye. Just got back from YouTube. I was right, I had never heard of him, but that’s an interesting story in that song.
I have to say I played each song on YouTube as I wrote the post so if you wanted to, you could find the exact lyric I was talking about. I tend to get neurotic like that…
I never select a category for my posts. I keep forgetting! So 99% of my posts are “Uncategorized.” I am far too lazy to go back and re-categorize them, so I doubt they ever will be.
I am a HUGE music junkie. I almost always have the radio on, and I have such a wide taste in music. And songs always mean something to me, or bring back a certain moment in time. “Tubthumping” by Chumbawamba takes me right back to my freshman year in college, with our room lit only by a string of white Christmas lights, a frigid breeze coming in through our open window (my roommate insisted on keeping her window open), and the scent of a bayberry candle burning on my desk.
I adore Billy Joel, long before I knew my husband’s grandmother babysat him when he was a kid. My favorite song? “Scenes from an Italian Restaurant.” The Beastie Boys’ “Fight For the Right to Party” brings me back to first grade, when I would belt it out as it came on the radio in my bedroom. Styx’s entire “Kilroy Was Here” album (one of my all-time favorites) makes me think of the summer of 1988, when I found the tape at my real mom’s house and played it on repeat ad infinitum. Well, I alternated with my then-stepdad’s copy of Bon Jovi’s “Slippery When Wet,” and still to this day when I hear “Wanted Dead or Alive” I listen for it to skip at a certain point, just like my first tape did, but it never does.
Right now I am totally diggin’ on Death Cab For Cutie’s “I Will Possess Your Heart” (PLEASE watch that video on YouTube, and make sure it’s the 8-min version; you can even select the high-rez version and watch it on full screen). I also ADORE the Dresden Dolls and have all their albums right now. I would totally have a crush on Amanda Palmer, the singer/composer/pianist of the Dresden Dolls, if I were a guy. And Lily Allen (British — yay!) is totally rocking my world, along with Kate Nash (another Brit). I was into Amy Winehouse, but then her drug issues sort of got into the way.
PS — Every time I hear “LA Woman” by the Doors now, I think of you. And let me tell you, it comes on at least once a day on our classic/modern rock station.
PPS — I like the new comments, mainly because the comment box is SO much larger, and I tend to write an entire novel in your comments every day. So it’s easier for me to see and edit my comment for typos.
Hey Blue, I think I’ve heard the name Death Cab for Cutie’s but I’m not sure. I am listening to the 8:31 version as I type. That’s a long intro…
I think Kate Nash was also suggested in the article in People Magazine that I read about Adele, sort of as the up and coming, new Amy Winehouses.
I’m so glad I made a mark on your psyche via LA Woman! How fun! Really the box is that much larger? That’s good. Too bad I don’t understand any of this coding and have to fall into backwards. Oh well, I’m making progress.
I had to laugh when you said the Beastie Boys makes you think of FIRST GRADE! It makes me think of my freshman year of COLLEGE! Tonya again. She loved them. What I remember most from that album was “Brass monkey, that funky monkey!”
Hi C-Girl,
As I read through your post today I got to thinking about church music and how it effects my mood. I’m not “officially” catholic, but Mrs. D is and I promised the priest when we got married that I would take her to mass – and I’ve pretty much made good on that promise as much as possible. Anyway, for all intents and purposes I’m at least a “friend of the church”.
Do you notice the change in the mood of the music – especially leading up to Easter? Seems like the closer we get to Easter every year (at least in our parish) the more somber and downbeat the music gets – until Easter Sunday when the music is joyous and uplifting again. Do you see the same thing in your parish? I don’t know if it’s the same way at Protestant services or not.
So to your main question of the day – my favorite song. I’m not sure I’ve got a good answer for that. I really liked a lot of the happy music of the 70’s – probably a little before your time. The words didn’t have to make sense, or they might require a lot of thought and research to make sense of – and there was often a lot of debate about what they meant. One example is “Bye bye Miss American Pie”. To me that was always one of those feel good songs – but just try to figure out what the words meant :)
Hi Don. Yes, the music does change depending upon the liturgical year. I always liked “Dust and Ashes” during Lent. I like the melody and the lyrics.
Not to harsh your mellow, Don, but I heard Bye bye Miss American Pie SO MANY TIMES in college that I cannot listen to it anymore. I know it has a weird convoluted bunch of meanings behind it. When Buddy Holly died, etc. Usually I don’t listen to the words in the song. Either I like it or I don’t. That’s why I think it’s so wild that I actually “hear” these specific lyrics on those few songs.
I came back to leave another PS, but in answer to Don’s question — yes, we Protestants also experience the same downward turn in the musical liturgy during Lent, building up to Easter. We know Jesus is going to die on the cross, and it’s sad and depressing. But then on Easter He has risen again, hence the joyous music.
And now back to my original PS — my favorite song lyric right now is from “I Will Possess Your Heart,” and I listen for it each time I hear it. It goes, “It’s like a book elegantly bound / but in a language that you can’t read.” It’s in the very first verse, right after the singing starts. I think part of the reason I like it so much is because of the way he works the word “elegantly” into the beat. It’s not quite how you’re expecting it to sound.
Gosh, how I love you Blue. Just had to say that.
I did hear that line about the elegantly bound book and enjoyed it. Is the single version that long — 8 minutes? I like the hook but it was sort of long in the beginning there.
I like the category titles (or tags as we call them over at blogger) so much that I recently moved them to the top of my posts. I thought it would be cool for readers to get an idea of what the post is about before they settle in to read it, especially as I have a split now between longer-term readers and new bride friends, and some of them are more interested in one type of post than another. But I do have a lot of tags. I keep thinking about tidying them up… maybe.
Ok, this is useless but I just can’t pick a favourite song. I can’t even think of one. Hmmm, I’ll come back…
Isn’t that funny, GS. When pressured like this I go blank. It’s the same way at the video store (is that DVD store now?) As soon as I walk in, I can’t think of what I want to see. I just go blank. But at home, when I do not have a chance to go to the store, I can think of five movies I want to see.
There are these songs that make you remember significant events, and then there are others that you would NEVER listen to on purpose again…and some that are both…like Dirty Laundry, I think it’s called…my best friend in high school loved to play it over and over and over again…”How do these rumors get started…started by the jealous people…”
Not my kind of music…but if I hear it, I think of her!
And then there are some songs so annoying I have to think of the singer/group dying and silently say “goodbye, goodbye”… unfortunately it didn’t work–NKOTB are back together…
Ugh, I know what you mean. Every so often Mr. C will sing, “Ice, ice, baby” and I want to smack him in the head. Grrr. I HATE that song, but that fecking hook gets stuck in your head.
I’ve always loved “One” by Metallica, “Rooster” by Alice in Chains, “Self Esteem” by Offspring, my latest favorite is “Riot” by Three Days Grace. But my ultimate favorite, that will always be my favorite is “Cleaning Out My Closet” by Eminem. As you can see I go for the angry songs.
They show my inner opinions and sometimes rage, since it’s unacceptable for me to behave that way, like you music moves me and is also a release for me at times.
@kat That song is by the Eagles I think, I believe it is called dirty laundry, loved it myself, loved the chorus, “kick em when they’re up, kick ‘em when they’re down…”
Go MouthyGirl, feel the rage. I know what you mean about that. I like Kelly Clarkston “Walk Away” and Lorrie Morgan “Watch Me” which are basically songs about chicks leaving their men behind. And for me, it kind of symbolizes me walking away from my punk of a father. So I feel rage when I listen to those songs and they tend to be good songs for my cardio workouts. Whatever works, eh?
But one song I always enjoy–”That Smell” by Lynyrd Skynyrd…”Whiskey bottles, brand new car. Oak tree, you’re in my way…”
I like that line, like the tree just jumped out into the road….
I like that one too! I never paid attention to the lyrics, but that’s what I thought when I read your comment, hmm, the tree just stepped right out there.
You can remove General, but you need to make another category the default one first. Once you’ve done that, it will let you remove General.
My favourite song is Feels Like Home by Chantal Kreviazuk.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hjky7v7JIow
Hmmm, so I need to think of a different catch all phrase for General. That would make me very, very happy to have something else be the default. OH! Maybe Plasmotic!
That song (Feels Like Home) is much more somber than I expected. It’s funny, everyone else left kind of pop/rock type songs. But I have a bunch of slower, jazz songs that I really like. Thanks for the tip on eradicating “General” one and for all.
OH! Maybe I’ll go with General Nonsense! Yes, I think that’s it! Thank you Solomon!
O.K., these are not necessarily favorite songs, but they pull at my heartstrings by bringing forth a rush of memories every time I hear them again (thanks to Don, for reminding me of one):
“Bye, Bye, Miss American Pie,” and (I don’t even know the title to this one …) “Like to hear that funky Dixieland, pretty mama gonna take me by the hand, by the hand, hand, take me by the hand, pretty mama, Dance with your daddy all night long …”
See, we didn’t really listen to popular music much in my home and the same summer of the Al / Indiana group experience, these two songs came on while we were in the bus headed to Great America (to parade for others and then amuse ourselves). All the other teens, immediately began singing along at the top of their lungs. I will always associate those two songs with that summer, those friends and the feeling of freedom and excitement and belonging (even though, at the time, I felt outside of the group since I didn’t know the songs at all).
I do tend to get favorites, though, and my kids know that and will always perk up when we are out in a store and they hear one of my favorites (Lily Allen, “LNDN Town,” Shania Twain, “Forever and For Always,” Amy Winehouse, “Rehab,” and one my husband just recently found for me on Napster, “Omnibus” by Laut Sprecher – now there’s a rockin one to exercise to!).
Fun post, CG! As always, fun to listen to the interaction in your VIP lounge, too!
Yaeh! Wendy’s here, Wendy’s here! I know exactly what song you’re talking about with Dixieland and I can hear it in my head. Had to Google that, it’s the Doobie Brothers, Black Water. I’m going to look up Omnibus. Just found it. Look at you with the techno music, Wendy. How fun! And I want to check out Lily Allen, that name keeps popping up in the Lounge.
Isn’t that funny when your kids hear the songs you listen to then hear them out and about. I bought a couple of Elvis songs because I heard them on “Lilo and Stitch” and that’s what my kids will say when we listen to my mp3 player. “Hey that’s from Lilo and Stitch, Mom!”
I like most anything punk. I also really like Weezer or old Offspring. The Ramones. Bruce.
You’re right. If I hear the right song, it can take me right back to way back when.
Isn’t that such a fun sensation? I never really got into the punk stuff. Although, I do like the new wave channel on Sirius Satellite. We have that in the van and on the rare occasion I am alone I listen to it and hear stuff like the Psychedelic Furs, Soft Cell, The Smiths, Talking Heads, etc. And that immediately makes me think of college. Good times.
I’m gonna try this again…it went POOF the first time…
That’s weird, usually HaloScan was responsible for the poofing here in the Lounge.
and now it adds a comment when IT wants too! LOL
Anyhow…
@Don – American Pie is about ‘the day the music died’…sort of. That day is the day the Big Bopper, Richie Valens and Buddy Holly were killed in a plane crash, and other musicians, as well..
@kat – ‘Dirty Laundry’ is Don Henley, from the Eagles, and it was off his first solo album.
@CG….you can add Eagles, Lynyrd Skynyrd, 38Special, Dean Martin, Dr. Hook, Def Leppard, Moody Blues, the Kinks….hee
Wow, Anne, you’re a walking musical encyclopedia! Who needs Wikipedia, we’ve got Anne!
Favourite phrases in songs, betch?! Sorry – that’s a blog in itself. Not a blog ENTRY, either – an entire blog space. I just have too many “favourites”.
As to that “category” question – I’m determined to put each post into just ONE category – which sucks most times, because I have posts that would fit into more than one, and then I have to actually make a decision. Which also sucks.
You can change the name of “General”, btw. I changed mine to “Life in General” which at least has a semblance of sense most times, if I should forget to choose another one and it does it for me.
Okay, you HAVE to come up with at least one, Les. You can’t comment again until you leave me one song and the phrase.
That’s fun, Life in General. Thanks to Solomon, I did figure out how to banish General. It became General Nonsense. I thought that was fun.
You’re so spartan, you ONLY use one category each time?! Wow.
The radio version of “I Will Possess Your Heart” is only 4:22 or some such; I just looked it up on YouTube. I love the long version, mainly because I adore that bass line. But feel free to enjoy the short version!!! That one is good too.
PPPS — I love you too, CG!! ;o)
I’m going to give that one a go. I like that bass line, but it was a tad too long for me. I’ll report back after I find the radio version.
(averts eyes, kicks toe in sand) Thanks :)
Oooh, this is going to take some thought. I’ll be back after I’ve done some pondering! **HUGS!!**
This is going to be so fun, Chris. From what I know of you your musical tastes are diverse, heavy rock and punk. I can’t wait to see what you pick!
There are too many to nail down a favorite but I remember being all agnst ridden in high school and falling in love with Alanis Morissette’s songs.
Sometimes is never quite enough, if your flawless than you’ll earn my love…
Also love Lauryn Hill her first album…every time I hear it makes me think of being in love and breaking up for the first time so it’s kinda bittersweet.
Is this just a silly game
that forces you to act this way
forces you to scream my name
then pretend that you can’t stay
tell me who I have to be
to get reciprocity
no one loves you more than me
and no one ever will.
And Prince is just the man.
Dig if you will the picture
Of you and I engaged in a kiss
the sweat of your body covers me
can you my darling-can you picture this?
Hi Faith, welcome to the VIP Lounge! (That’s what I call the comments section.) I, too had that first Alanis Morissette album and I remember liking the song “You Learn”:
Swallow it down (what a jagged little pill)
It feels so good (swimming in your stomach)
Those songs that make you think of people and all their good points and all of the flaws are bittersweet, aren’t they? And I do remember loving that line from Prince:
Dig if you will the picture.
I just liked the cool cat, hepness of it, Baby dig this picture.
I still call DVDs videos and I won’t take correcting from anyone.
And I still can’t think of a favourite song. OH, THE PRESSURE!
Guilty, I will give you more time, but you must come up with something. I like knowing little tidbits about my friends.
Fine (grumble).
“…I remember thinking to myself ‘This could be Heaven or this could be Hell.’ – Hotel California, The Eagles.
That creepy little line can apply to just about anything “new” happening (you KNOW I don’t adapt to change easily). If that song flits through my head, it generally means I’m about to take a trip with a hand-basket…
I enjoy your grumbles, Les. Yeah, I hear you on change. Change = Bad most of the time, in my experience. Yikes. But thank you for playing along :) You’re a good sport.
Okay C-girl, I’ve thought about this one… cuz I couldn’t possibly leave anything out, ya know? That would be a travesty! There are so many different songs and lyrics that have touched me over the years, because music has always been the one thing that I consistently identify with. I’ve decided that, to really do the topic justice, I’ll just have to write my answer as a post of my own. So… I should have that up by tomorrow morning! **HUGS!!**
(jumps up and down) Oh I can’t wait to see your post! I know there will be alot of Amy in there, but I wonder what else will make the cut?
Anxiously awaiting!
