NaNoWriMo: The one where I wordle the hell out of it because I can

Over the Moon Converse

I’m very excited over here; rather I am still extremely jacked. I am so very excited the I have been massaging and manipulating my project so I can give you a sneak peak.

First I present my NaNo project summarized in ten sentences via Microsoft Word. I have Erin to thank for that little nugget — many thanks Erin!

I had no idea that Word could autosummarize with just one mouse click, but it can and it’s awesome. So here’s a summary of my work in progress as interpreted by Word.

You’re right, Bill. I want to join Girl Scouts.

Then we recited the Girl Scout Promise and practiced the Girl Scout handshake.

Right.

Right.

###

“Hi girls,” Stan said.

Goddamn, Bill. Amanda,

Ted

Silly girl.

It’s compelling, isn’t it? I’m sure if you were standing in the aisle at Barnes & Noble you would read that on the dust jacket and then run to the nearest cashier to purchase it. I know.

After I had my fun with Word I hightailed it over to Wordle. Gotta say I turned it out on representing the world’s obsessive-compulsives — of that I am proud.

First this is a Wordle of my NaNo related posts, the one where I presented my dream and the updates on my progress. Looks like I used the word alligator quite a bit in those posts, eh? Whispers, “alligator.”

NaNo Wordle

Next up is my actual story. This is a representation of the 53,511 words I have strung together so far. It’s like reading the book, isn’t it? How did you like the ending?

Daisy Wordle

And I couldn’t leave Worlde without showing you the joy I am experiencing. These words come close to showing you how I feel and yes, Howard-Dean-scream is one of my favorites. Thanks for asking.

I am so behind on Nanowrimo lol – I think 8550 by Word’s last count but then it’ll be diffrent when I get back to my Macbook and then different again when I get back to the Nanowrimo site :(

    • cardiogirl says:

Isn’t that weird how that happens? As usual, I’m paranoid and I feel like I have to have at least an extra 5,000 words of padding just to be safe.

      • Hannah says:

Okay so make it about 9500 now! Whoop I might break 10k by the weekend or maybe even 15k by the end of November – thats better than last year and the year before lol.

  • Lola says:

    I love Wordle!

  • Lin says:

You know, CG, I’m very impressed with this whole novel-writing month and all, but I’m feeling a little…..uh….neglected. Please be done with this because I miss you.

P.s. I like the wordle thing–I may have to go have some fun later. :)

Oh! Happy Thanksgiving! We’ll be hanging with the f-bomb dropping cousins, hootin’ it up and kickin’ ass on the Wii, than traveling to Indy to see friends. Wanna watch Hobbes for me while I’m gone???

    • cardiogirl says:

I know. My kids feel the same way. They’re tired of hearing me say dismissively, “Okay, I’ll be there in a minute.” Just a few more days!

Man I want to hang with your cousins. But I’d take the one-on-one time with Hobbes any day. I bet he’d sit on my lap while I wrote.

  • Congratulations again! Love the wordle stuff and the word summary. Can I pre-order my copy of your book on Amazon yet?

  • Sandy says:

Wordle is so cool! I think the last one is my absolute favorite. It is so you.

    • cardiogirl says:

It is so cool. I spent a lot of time over there when I first found it. I’m actually thinking about printing these out and framing them. I love the colors and fonts, but mostly I love the words.

  • Cate Subrosa says:

Glad to hear it’s going well, CG, keep at it!

  • Erin says:

    Thanks for the shout-out!

I need to go wordle my novel now. And I have to say, I read your novel excerpt on Nano, and I can’t wait till you get published because I really want to read the whole thing ;)

    • cardiogirl says:

No sweat, chica. I was so jazzed when I learned about that feature. There are so many fun options — and a nice diversion when you need a break from The Beast.

Thanks regarding my excerpt! I really can’t wait to get a fully edited finished product so I can start sending it out — months and months from now. I’m really interested in seeing how many rejections it takes and what the comments are (if any) from potential editors.

  • Margo says:

HA – that is so much fun! I’ll have to try that as a way to procrastinate now, since there is no way I can make 50k at this point. Congrats again!

    • cardiogirl says:

      Thanks Margo!

Isn’t that funny how that procrastination sneaks up on you. I’m feeling a bit stalled and burned out right now. I have taken the last two/three days off and I feel it breathing down my neck and yet I’m feeling tired, man.

I do love your name and I used it for one of my secondary characters. If you look closely on the second Wordle you’ll see it. Go straight up from the y in Daisy and you’ll find your handle.

It is small and it’s maroon, but it’s there, jack.

  • LJ says:

    New found apps are fun.

    • cardiogirl says:

They really are loads of fun. I now the thrill will wear off, but I could (and have) spent hours over there. Love it!

  • Tim says:

So let me get this straight. Was it the peppy dream Cardiogirl that let out the merry Howard-Dean-Scream, or was it the jacked Gingah with the jazz-hands? Either way, those are fun to look at.

    • cardiogirl says:

It was totally the jacked Gingah with jazz-hands, Tim.

As you noted, there are many faces of Cardiogirl. Peppy dream Cardiogirl is the one who stares, longingly, into space and imagines a world where Converse low tops grow on trees in many different shades and colors.

And the neighbors are never uptight about you picking a few pairs because they know they’ll just grow back next season.

  • [...] Wooooo! I’m ready to let out a Howard Dean scream like my favorite jacked Gingah! [...]
