NaNoWriMo breaking news: I did it! I hit 50K at 3:58 am EST~!~

Over the Moon Converse

I made that bar turn green. Yes I did~!~

I spanked its ass. I spanked it right into Saturday and that is why we are chatting on this fine morning.

I hit 50K

And today I will use liberal exclamation points and not just the pedestrian ones~!~ I will use the special exclamation points that Liz and I created~!~ I earned those exclamation points fair and square~!~

I WILL SCREAM, TOO~!~ I WILL SCREAM LIKE HOWARD DEAN~!~ I’M GOING TO WASHINGTON D.C. TO TAKE OVER THE WHITE HOUSE!

YEEEEEAAAAAHHH~!~

Bustin’ five knots, wind whippin’ out my coat
You can’t stop me mofo ’cause I’m on a boat

YES. I. AM.

I’m the Captain of that boat and my starched white uniform is extremely bitchin’ because it totally showcases my new kicks.

Yeah, I am wearing those shoes up there. You see how funkalicious those are?

They shine.

They shine because I am on a boat, kids.

I’m getting the hint that you might be a little happy about this? Ha! Girl, you rock. When you are famous, I’m going to tell everyone I used to visit your blog and write inane comments. A serious sweep the leg to you!

    • cardiogirl says:

Sandy, I don’t think I’ve been this jacked since the birth of my youngest daughter. And between you and me, I feel just as relieved now as I did then. I did it and I lived through it.

And because of that I now have a beautiful creation that brings me much joy and happiness.

  • beanie says:

Yay! It’s a great feeling, isn’t it? Can I read your story?

    • cardiogirl says:

It is a great feeling, beanie! I definitely have more to write before the story has a full beginning, middle and end. I’m sort of in the middle closing in toward the end.

I did set up my Word file as a 6×9 inch document to simulate the size of a large paperback and I’m proud to announce I have 181 pages. I think a full book needs at least 300 pages plus.

But when it’s published and sittin’ on the shelves I’ll send you a copy and sign it with my real name and with Cardiogirl.

  • V says:

excellent cg, now i can topple over on to the floor after sitting on the edge of my seat for the past few days.

    Boomshakalaka!

    and congrats.

  • Angelika says:

Congrats! I think you’re the first person I’ve seen who actually got 50,000 words, LOL.

An achievement to be proud of, for sure! :-)

  • Soonerchick says:

Congratulations! That’s quite a milestone! Muchos kudos. :)

  • Michelle says:

    Amazing!! Way to go!

So what time do you go to bed when you have been up so early?

    • cardiogirl says:

Well (mumbles) :30 in the morning. I fall asleep around 7:45 pm and wake up between 2:45 and 3:15. It’s pure adrenaline. I don’t usually keep those hours. I am a morning person, but usually I get up around 4. It’s really the best time for me to write uninterrupted, you know?

  • Elizabeth A. says:

I opened my email and saw my CardioGirl email and immediately wondered what’s so cool to be treated to a Saturday post. She much have hit 50k ~!~ And you did ~!~ AWESOME~!~ I am so happy for you, and your new silent baby of black type.

Poseidon is looking at you in your Converse lowtoppies and he is truly impressed.

  • LJ says:

Well done! And well deserved! You worked hard for that and it paid off. It was a joy to go along on the journey with you.

    • cardiogirl says:

Thanks LJ. I can’t believe how much fun this has been. I was extremely nervous to even mention the fact that I was going to try it. This has been a really great CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) experiment.

It’s actually real homework I am doing with my therapist right now. My next appointment is on Nov. 30 (saw her last on Nov. 2) and I CANNOT WAIT to report my progress.

      Sweep the Leg, gingah!

  • Jessi says:

    Woohoo!! Great job!

  • Bumbles says:

    It’s a big blue watery road – never thought I’d be on a boat – I’m on a mo-fo boat!!!!

Congrats to you and Agent P – and thanks for the SNL clip – I will enjoy having that in my head the rest of the weekend to pump me up.

    • cardiogirl says:

I gotta tell you Bumbles, I’d heard that song in passing before you mentioned it in a previous comment and now it is my theme song, baby! I need it on my mp3 player and I will play incessantly (with headphones on, can’t damage my kids while they’re this young.)

I love the line, But stay on your motherfu*kin’ TOES!

  • Tracy says:

I knew you could do it — and we all got to come along for the ride!!

Congratulations, CG. . . And don’t stop!! You’ve still got 10 days left to keep that word count going and add even more to your tale.

But for now, an enormous pat on the back is in order. And a big-ass flute of champagne!!!

    • cardiogirl says:

I was drunk on exhilaration, Tracy, but now I’m hammered after that big-ass flute, gingah!

I love the feeling of walkin’ on air~!~

  • Wendy says:

Way to go, CG! Always knew you had it in you! You have blazed a trail and I must bring up the rear. (Boy, do I just want to go to bed now and rest on your laurels with sweet dreams of Cardiogirl dancing in the street in her Nanowrimo t-shirt, signing preliminary copies of the novel – alas, I have at least 1700 words to write tonight or “miles to go before I sleep.”)

Please send Agent P. over immediately. Although, I will still send her back before dawn, because I agree that you should keep pressing that word count until the last day. Thanks for taking on this big ole alligator with me!

    • cardiogirl says:

I didn’t know there was a T-shirt! Hello Santa, I know what I want. And Agent P is definitely available to moonlight.

  • Les says:

Hurrah! Congratulations, Shetbag! Please tell me I get to read the masterpiece?

  • Becky says:

Yaaaay! So proud of you! I dedicate all this champagne (and other stuff I drank tonight) to you, you, you! Happy dance!

    • cardiogirl says:

Thanks Becky! I was able to vomit a tiny bit and pass out vicariously through you. And I loved every minute of it.

  • Buf says:

    Congrats!!

  • Hannah says:

    Hey GO you!!!!!

I am doing so pants on NaNoWriMo lol – I think I am on about 8.5k it’s not good. Someone told me to aim to write 12k more and then catch up with the rest.

    • cardiogirl says:

You know, honestly writing eight thousand (THOUSAND) words is pretty damn awesome right there. I really was intimidated by the thought of writing five thousand words.

Plus, this is a nice start in terms of editing and continuing, isn’t it? It’s so hard to start out looking at a blank page, much easier to revise.

  • Erin says:

Congrats!!!!! I am behind, and I am not pleased about it. But I got really excited when I logged in to update my own word count just now and saw you had hit 50K :)

    • cardiogirl says:

Thanks Erin! It’s fun to watch other people’s progress and there are more than a few people out there whose tail I am chasing. It really is spurring me on to catch them. There’s something about those progress charts, isn’t there?
